Overview
This AirStrip OB^TM application provides the capability for physicians (Obstetricians) to use their PDA’s or Smart Phones to remotely access real-time fetal heart tracings (“strips”), maternal contraction patterns and other critical data from hospital labor and delivery units. This is accomplished through the AirStrip OB^TM software, which is installed onto a mobile handheld device and utilizes a wireless internet connection (cell, WiFi, Bluetooth) to receive the patient’s data. Physicians then use PDA’s, SmartPhones or PC's that are loaded with AirStrip OB^TM software to remotely and securely access real-time and historical waveform and numeric data via a wireless internet connection. The ability to view this critical data at will, and not rely on nursing interpretations over the phone, allows physicians to be proactive, troubleshoot problems before they arise and provide better overall, more comprehensive and more efficient medical care for their patients.  This leads to incresed patient safety, improved communication among caregivers and decreased risk for hospitals, physicians and patients.

Application Features
AirStrip OB^TM provides the following major features as part of its base functionality: Real-time views, HIPAA Compliant Login, Hospital Labor and Delivery Census, Strip Charting, Patient Data Overlay, Strip Zooming and Strip Scrolling.  Each of these features is described in more detail below:

• Real-Time Views - Real-time and historical views of fetal heart tracings and maternal contraction patterns with annotations.
• HIPAA Compliant Login – This feature provides the authentication of the user by requiring that a user id and password be entered. Both must be correct in order to be able to access the hospital network. If either the user id or password is incorrect, the user will not be able to connect to the hospital network. VPN support is also available.
• Hospital Labor and Delivery Census – This feature captures the patients currently being monitored, displaying their name as well as their doctor and the patient’s hospital bed. The census is listed by hospital, allowing the user to select the hospital in which their patient is being monitored. Once the hospital is selected, the list of current patients will be displayed, allowing the user to select a specific patient for more detailed information.
• Strip Charting – This feature displays the fetal strip and maternal contraction pattern information for the patient selected from the Census screen. This is the primary screen used to review the patient information and displays the fetal heart rate and maternal contractions, as well as the patient name, hospital name, room number, date and time.
• Patient Data Display – This feature provides the capability to display patient data over the top of the patients strip chart or as a separate patient data screen. The data displayed includes the patient’s name, age, fetal gestation, patient gravity, patient parity, last cervical exam information, their current nurse and their physician. This data can also be displayed as a separate screen within the application.
• Strip Zooming – This feature provides the capability to zoom the chart image using one of four methods: adjusting the scroll bar, using the arrow selections to increase or decrease the zoom, using the 4-way toggle button or by manually typing in a value.
• Strip Scrolling – This feature allows the user to scroll forward or backward through the script chart data. Scrolling through the chart data does not affect the ability of the real-time data to be downloaded onto the handheld device.
